The Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) is a research institute that offers strong expertise and independent information on global phenomena such as climate change, biodiversity loss, overconsumption, pollution and eutrophication. Syke promotes well-being through nature-based solutions and provides solutions to sustainability transformation. It is governed by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Petteri Vihervaara
Petteri Vihervaara is the project coordinator and has extensive experience in EO for biodiversity research as well as leadership of large research projects. He has wide international scientific networks and has a key role in Biodiversa+ on biodiversity monitoring activities.
Maria Hällfors
Maria Hällfors is Co-Coordinator and WP7 Lead. She is a senior researcher with a strong background in climate-change ecology, focusing on biodiversity change and the impacts of climate change on species distributions. Her research addresses range dynamics and phenological shifts, with the aim of improving understanding and prediction of biodiversity responses to environmental change.
Susanna Koivusaari
Susanna Koivusaari is a Project Assistant in WP7 and a doctoral researcher focusing on the impacts of climate change and land-use change on biodiversity. Her work supports project coordination and research activities related to understanding biodiversity responses to environmental change.
